Sofia Coppola’s Life Cinematic on BBCFOUR Wednesday 25th November 2020.

On The Rocks available via Apple TV, starring Rashida Jones alongside Bill Murray, written and directed by Sofia Coppola.

After On The Rocks was released in October, I was glad to have the opportunity to see it at The Prince Charles Cinema, feeling very safe in my socially distanced seat and wearing my mask. It was great escapism for a few hours, even though my heart ached seeing New York City up on screen. It was wonderful to see a new film from Sofia Coppola, reuniting with Bill Murray starring with Rashida Jones as his daughter, and wondering if any influence of Francis’s parenting was on screen in this wryly funny and touching film.

As this was the newest film from Sofia, I was wondering how it fit in with all her other releases and what inspirations may have influenced the film and to my intrigue, I saw that Sofia will be on Life Cinematic this week.

Taking part in a new series discussing the art of filmmaking, Sofia will virtually talk with Edith Bowman, discussing ‘films that have had the most impact on her career.’

It airs on BBCFour at 10pm on Wednesday 25th November and will be available upon the BBC iplayer after broadcast. The corresponding BBC page for the series will have clips and music cues after the episode airs.
